Dr. B. Jagannath Kamath Memorial Oration

The Canara Orthopaedic Society and the Department of Orthopaedics, KMC Mangalore, hold a memorial oration in his name. The oration is combined with a continuing medical education (CME) programme on hand surgery and a quiz for orthopaedic postgraduates.

Prof. B. Jagannath Kamath Ideas & Innovation Award

The Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand (ISSH) instituted this award in 2024. It is given each year for the best new idea or innovation in hand surgery, such as a device or instrument, a clinical sign, a diagnostic test, a surgical technique or a research idea. ISSH members submit a short description of an unpublished idea, and a committee of ISSH office-bearers scores the entries without knowing who submitted them. The six highest-scoring entries are presented in a dedicated Prof. B. Jagannath Kamath session at ISSHCON, the society’s annual conference, where a panel of judges chooses the winner and runner-up. The winner receives a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 and a medal, and the runner-up a silver medal. Details are on the ISSH website and in the ISSH newsletter of January 2025.
